5 Sessions at Kendal Mountain Festival to Inspire Your Next Adventure
Original post: Another World Adventures

One of the biggest events in the UK outdoor calendar is coming up later this month – Kendal Mountain Festival! A celebration of all things outdoors and adventure, Kendal features films, talks from athletes, well-known outdoor faces, authors deep diving into their books and opportunities to get out and about with your outdoor heroes. With such a long list of amazing sessions that you can attend, we have chosen our top 5 that you shouldn’t miss!
1. Literature Talk – Epic Train Journeys with Monisha Rajesh
19th November 2021, 13:15, Buff Basecamp Stage – more info
Train travel expert Monisha explored the world’s most memorable rail routes for her book and she will share what she has learnt about train travel being so much more than getting from A to B – it’s a great example of how the journey itself can be an adventure. We love slow travel and so we can’t wait to hear more!
2. Film Collection – Age is no Barrier
19th November 2021, 14:30, The Shakespeare Centre – more info
20th November 2021, 09:30, Brewery Arts Centre
From realisations on the Appalachian trail and repairing wooden canoes, to volcanic wilderness in Iceland and bikepacking in Wales, this short film collection is a celebration of a lifelong love of the outdoors, adventure and stewardship. Adventure doesn’t end at 22, despite what the mainstream media might suggest.
3. Film Collection – Explore

A beautiful celebration of the different reasons people decide to go on adventures – working through grief, learning about how we can tackle climate change, overcoming unexpected disability and highlighting some of the biggest challenges of our time.

4. Film Premiere of River
19th November 2021, 21:15, Brewery Arts Centre – more info
Introduced by Robert Macfarlane, this documentary takes viewers on a journey through space and time, across six continents to see rivers in a way that they haven’t been before. It is described as a union of image, music and poetic script.
5. Literature Talk – Outlandish: a journey into the strangest lands of Europe with Nick Hunt
20th November 2021, 16:00, Brewery Arts Centre – more info
Author Nick Hunt invites you on a journey to explore some of the most unexpected places in Europe. This is a celebration of rich environments we usually associate with locations further away – including deserts, primeval forest, Arctic tundra and grassland steppes! We don’t always have to travel as far as we think to get the feeling of a completely new environment – adventures can be nearer and more accessible than we think.
There are lots more events and experiences available to book through the Kendal Mountain Festival website and, if you can’t make it in person, online events that can be booked too!
And, of course, if you come back inspired to plan your next adventure, we can help with that.
