A chance to join the much-loved ARC rally and sail across the Atlantic Ocean westbound from the Canary Islands to St Lucia in November 2024.
The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers has been a main fixture in the sailing diary for over 30 years. It’s the largest race of its kind and a ‘must do’ for many; registering on the bucket list of experienced sea dogs and unseasoned landlubbers alike.
Better known as ARC, the rally attracts over 200 boats and 1200 people every year, from all over the world. Strangers gather together at Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. Here, they meet their fellow crewmates and become familiar with the boat that will be their home for the next few weeks. They will spend their land-based days preparing themselves with training and safety drills.
Then, the first gun will sound and the rally will begin. Sails are unfurled and the boats plow through the waves towards the classic trade wind routes. Elements are battled. Old and new skills are put to the test. All while the boats sail 2700NM across the planet’s second-largest ocean.
By the time the boats cruise into the warm waters of St Lucia, life-long friends step off the boats and into the open arms of the welcoming committee. And some well-earned rest and celebration.
Another World Adventures work with a number of sailing operators who enter their boats into ARC and accept guest crew on board for the journey.
This opportunity is with a crew who have successfully completed in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 (with 2 boats) and 2023. They gained a podium finish in 2020 and won the racing division in 2022. You’ll have a chance to join the crew for ARC 2024 in the Racing Division. This means no mechanical propulsion; it’s the wind in the sails the whole way!
What to expect
Two sailboats will enter the ARC and you’ll join either …
A 2008 racing-ready Beneteau First 40.7; a racer that embodies all the aspects of a racing pedigree, with the added provisions of comfort in mind. Whether you’re a novice, or an experienced competitor this boat can put a smile on your face.
A 2007 Harmony 52, only 20 of these boats were ever made, they are light spacious, and extremely stable, making them ideal for crossing oceans and offshore sailing. We have invested a huge amount of time and effort in upgrading our vessels to meet the highest of safety standards and be as competitive as possible.
Why you'll love this adventure
- Race across the Atlantic in the racing division of ARC 2024
- All hands on deck as you build your skills and experience of off-shore sailing with a great crew of international friends

Tour operator
The motivation behind this operator was making access to sail racing more accessible. When the founder wanted to progress from competing in dinghies to moving to bigger boats it became apparent that this could be a hard transition without knowing the right people who already owned yachts... so he charter a boat, found like minded people and divided the cost between those onboard. It's a model that works and since then they've brought crews together around the world to take part in sailing races and ocean crossings. Expect to find a motely crew on board from GAP year students to seasoned sailors in their 70's with lots of nationalities thrown into the mix. Just how we like it!
