Reykjavik Run – Greenland to Iceland

Duration: 22 days
View Dates

An exciting, hands-on sailing voyage in the midnight sun from Greenland to Iceland. Explore the best of this fascinating region while experiencing life aboard ship!

Experience a combination of bluewater and coastal sailing on this active sailing adventure from Greenland to Iceland.

Join the crew in Ilulissat, Greenland where the number of sled dogs rivals the number of people and the UNESCO Icefjord spills icebergs out into the Disko Bay.

From here, you will set sail south with the midnight sun towards Nuuk, anchorage hopping over the following week. While the ship manoeuvres through the sea ice, keep an eye out for sea life along the way, including possible sightings of fin, humpback and minke whales.

After a night in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, you will continue to voyage south towards Iceland, finishing your journey in Iceland’s fascinating capital, Reykjavik.

Due to the weather in the region, the specific anchorages and villages visited along the way may change. It’s all part of the adventure in the North-Atlantic Ocean!

During your sailing adventure you’ll be on board as guest crew with up to nine other guest crew alongside two professional sailors on a 72ft (22m), 90,000lb displacement steel hulled sailing vessel built in the UK in 2000. She is one of 11 second-generation yachts originally built for the Global Challenge Race and is rated Category 0 All Oceans.

Onboard expect to learn a lot, brush up skills, explore and have fun with a group of like-minded individuals. We find around 90% joining these sailing adventures are solo – with a mix of male and female split. The skipper and first mate are an all women-team.  The vessel is used for lots of environmental research projects and food on board is vegetarian. Be it a coastal, offshore voyage or skill building sailing trip these sailing experiences are ideal for both new and experienced sailors joining solo or in groups. Previous sailing experience isn’t always needed as quality guidance from the skipper and mate is very much the philosophy of the adventure. .

Tour operator

A 72ft (22m), 90,000lb displacement steel-hulled sailing yacht built in 2000 that can accommodate 10 guest crew on her voyages. No previous sailing experience is needed, and both experienced and new sailors will enjoy her abilities as a boat built purposely for the demanding Global Challenge Race.

An experienced onboard and offshore team runs the vessel and supports her passage through remote waters with skill and precision. With two women at the helm as captain and first mate we love the boat's rugged capability as a circumnavigating vessel built to face the toughest sea conditions anywhere in the world. She has been specifically set up to operate with a volunteer crew with limited sailing experience and has high standards for sustainable passage making including keeping a vegetarian galley. This vessel provides her guest crew with comfortable living conditions and the chance to train in both modern and traditional sailing methods, whether for a short passage or a longer ocean crossing.
