An historic Arctic expedition to the Northwest Passage
Original post: Another World Adventures

This summer brings an exciting one-off historic Arctic expedition in the Northwest Passage
We were very excited to hear that one of our partner sail training vessels will make an historic voyage to the Canadian Arctic and into the Northwest Passage. It’ll be the first full-rigged vessel to explore these waters in over a century.
This unusual expedition takes students, scientists, a maritime historian and film crew into the Arctic to observe, study, and report on how a changing climate and the loss of summer sea ice is affecting the environment, wildlife, and indigenous people. The expedition is in partnership with the University of Rhode Island and is supported by the National Science Foundation.
What’s particularly exciting is that berths have been opened up to adventure seekers wanting to join the voyages to, from and into the Northwest Passage details of which are below.
The opportunity to join the guest crew (no experience needed) and sail through the Northwest Passage defines the term we feel is often thrown around but deserved is huge measure here: ‘Trip of a lifetime’.
Sign up to join a leg and you’ll be welcomed on board as part of the crew. Prepare to find yourself on deck bracing the yards on a starboard tack, or taking your turn at the helm, perhaps steering the ship towards the northern lights. Participants will live aboard a true tall ship and work side by side with professional crew, learning square-rig seamanship on this grand 200-foot, steel-hulled, three-masted vessel.
Numerous stops will be made on each leg to observe the abundant Arctic wildlife, unique and vibrant towns and meet locals. A team of Arctic naturalists, historians & guides will join us on various legs to share their extensive knowledge of this legendary polar region.
