Embarking on a sailing adventure in the Mediterranean is an unforgettable experience, and doing so aboard a historic tall ship adds an element of timeless charm and authenticity.
Picture yourself under billowing sails, navigating crystal-clear waters, and exploring iconic destinations rich with culture, history, and natural beauty.
If you like what you see then luckily one of our favourite vessels has cooked up a fabulous schedule this summer in the Med and the unique opportunity for solo, friends and family travellers to combine hands-on sailing with the luxury of exploring some of the Mediterranean’s most stunning locales.
A Historic Vessel with Modern Comforts
This classic wooden windjammer, steeped in history, provides the perfect blend of tradition and comfort. Built with love and craftsmanship, the ship retains its original charm while offering modern amenities.
With spacious private cabins and an experienced crew to guide you, every detail has been designed to make your voyage exceptional.
Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or new to the maritime world, you’ll feel right at home aboard this elegant vessel.
Meet the Family Haynes
Over the past 45 years, Family Haynes has been faithfully restoring and maintaining her charm with traditional rigging, setting all her sails by hand.
Originally launched in 1921 in Italy as a pure wooden sailing ship, she was built to carry over 200 tons of marble deep-sea, with double oak frames and 13-meter-long, 14 cm thick ironwood planks (azobe). Her mahogany topsides add to her timeless beauty.
Guest crew can choose between twin and triple cabins, authentic hammock bunks in the saloon, or even sleep on deck beneath the stars for an unforgettable experience.
Sailing on a tall ship is more than just a holiday—it’s an immersive experience. On board you’ll be encouraged to participate in the sailing process, from hoisting sails to taking a turn at the helm.
For those who prefer to relax, the spacious decks provide plenty of room to unwind and soak up the Mediterranean sun.
Explore Stunning Mediterranean Destinations
This ship’s schedule for the 2025 season is brimming with opportunities to explore the Med.
From the volcanic marvels of Stromboli to the charming streets of Lipari and the tranquil beauty of Sardinia’s coastline, each voyage is a carefully curated adventure.
