Power your own adventure
Original post: Another World Adventures
When you power your own adventure, the romance of the journey comes with a sense of achievement that is unparalleled.
You can run, cycle, hike and kayak your way around the world; powered by your passion for adventure!
Run through the lava fields of Iceland, hike across the mountain ranges of Tajikistan, or cycle through the tea plantations of Sri Lanka. Powering your own adventure is a slower, more flexible method of travelling that is good for body, mind and soul. From the tired muscles to the slower pace; there is more romance in a journey where you can take the time to savour the moment.
Here are a few of our favourite adventures that will get your muscles pumping!
If you want to hike…
You can take to the hills almost anywhere in the world. Walking vigorously or even sedately across the countryside, is a beautiful way to connect with the natural world and a new country. Hiking can be a truly immersive and inclusive form of travel.
You could explore the lesser-known Pamir Mountains on this Tajikistan Pamir Mountain trek. Of all the Greater Ranges on the Asian continent, the Pamir Mountains are probably the least known and the least visited of them all. They boast the world’s largest glacier outside the Polar regions, the 77km long Fedchenko Glacier, and harbour three mountains taller than 7000m. Or Walk with the Berber Nomads from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco as they make their annual journey from the hot city to the cool mountains.
If you want to run…
The joy and freedom of running can be captured in your travel experience. You could choose to complete a life changing marathon course, through the wondrous Himalayan mountains in the Shivapuri National Park in Nepal. Alternatively, you could opt to see the dramatic natural wonders of the Icelandic Highlands. Trail running across rural Iceland taking inbreath taking sights; from waterfalls to stunning mountains and glacial lagoons. Both trips offer the chance to run across the most unique landscapes; enjoying the scenery at your own pace.
If you want to hike, bike and kayak…
Immerse yourself in the steamy rainforests on foot to visit colourful hilltribes, cruise down the River Kwai on kayaks and explore the lesser-known side of Chiang Mai from a bicycle. The diversity of exciting outdoor options makes Thailand a haven for adventurers on this 12 day Thailand: Hike Bike Kayak trip.
