RORC Caribbean 600 in 2025
Original post: Another World Adventures
You know us, at Another World Adventures we like to take it slow when it comes to travel – but every now and again there’s a race that gets us excited and we like sharing it when there’s a chance to sign up to take part.
One of our fleet have a couple of spots to join the famous RORC Caribbean 600 race in 2025!
Time & Place: 22nd Feb to 1st of March 2025 Antigua
In 2025, the RORC Caribbean 600 race has been added to one of our partner vessel’s lineup of sail races for the season.
This race has grown significantly in popularity over the years and is often compared to iconic events such as the Fastnet or Sydney Hobart races—and for good reason. It combines the appeal of a longer offshore race with the breathtaking setting of the Caribbean. The course, which involves rounding 11 islands, offers not only a highly challenging experience but also an ever-changing and captivating scenery.
This race is recommended for those already experienced in sail racing. It is not a trip for passengers or “rail meat,” as the experience demands full participation, just like any other day with a dedicated racing crew. To ensure readiness, a two-day training session is organized for all participants to familiarize themselves with the boat and its specifics.
Participation in the Caribbean 600 automatically qualifies crew members for the Fastnet crew in the summer of 2025. For those interested in further details, the organization remains open to inquiries and also offers a “whole boat” option for crews seeking an exclusive experience.
True to their philosophy of working “organically,” the team involves crew members in key decisions such as provisioning and other logistics. A dedicated discussion platform is created for the crew, enabling matters to be addressed and resolved well in advance, saving time on location.
Itinerary for 2025
On the 22th in the morning at 11.00 we will meet up at the boat with an introduction and safety briefing. Our aim is to head out in the afternoon for first training session. Later in the evening there is a welcoming party.
Next day is a full out training day + provisioning for the race.
24th Feb Race Start
10.50: first warning signal and race start. The start line is taken from Fort Charlotte and the race will get us past 11 Caribbean Islands.
Racing & Race Finnish
Expect full out four days of racing (depending on weather) under ocean conditions, negotiating a highly tactical race course, an ongoing watch system. The mild nights, hot tropical days, stunning island scenery and exotic surroundings complete the picture of the race.
