Tick off a To Do on your sailing bucket list and set sail to explore the Bocas del Toro Archipelago
This is a rare opportunity – a chance to be part of a unique family adventure as guest crew on their luxury 53ft catamaran. The family have now been full time liveaboards for 2 years.
They’ll be sailing in and around Bocas del Toro and welcome up to 4 guests on stays of 7-14 days between July- October 2024).
Located on the Caribbean coast of Panama near the Costa Rican border, this unspoiled archipelago of nine big islands, and many smaller ones, creates an inland sea where the breezes are so tranquil the waves rarely exceed knee height. And because Panama is south of the hurricane zone, there is no “season.” You can safely cruise here all year round.
Cruising the nearby islands has a lot to offer, here are some of the highlights:
• Well sheltered anchorages of unbeatable beauty.
• The calm waters at Starfish Beach on Isla Cólon, also called Playa Estrella, is perfect for swimming snorkeling and paddleboarding. Beautiful starfish can be seen in shallow clear waters.
• Enjoy bodysurfing at Red Frog Beach on Isla Bastimentos, where the waves are consistent and moderate.
• See bottlenose dolphins play in their natural habitat in Dolphin Bay on Isla Christobal.
• Discover the vibrant coral reefs and dense tropical forest of Zapatilla Cays within the Bastimentos National marine park. It is a nesting area for hawksbill and leatherback sea turtles.
For guests flying into Tocumen Panama International Airport, there are daily flights to Bocas del Toro. The skipper will work out the details and accommodate according to your schedule.
Dive in for a morning swim and enjoy a cup of coffee on deck while waking up slowly with the backdrop of mountains and volcanoes. Go to shore to explore as we arrive in new places. You may spot exotic toucans, sloths and parrots live amidst the bananas, cacao and bamboo. They have both scuba diving and snorkeling gear onboard as well as kitesurf gear and a paddle board. Go for an underwater safari and see hundreds of tropical fish, turtles, rays and various types of abundant marine life. The wildlife and scenery is spectacular, both above and under water.
Temperatures vary a little depending on the seasons: the average daytime temperature ranges are from 25 ° C to 30 ° C (77 ° F to 86 ° F) and average sea temperature goes from 27 ° C to 29° C (81 ° F to 84 ° F).
Tempus is equipped with essential safety gear including life jackets, emergency life raft, multiple navigation devices, VHF radio, Starlink WIFI, GPS spot device and AIS (Automatic Identification System).
