Sailing adventures make our hearts race. After all, Another World Adventures was born after a tall ship voyage across the Atlantic Ocean! So why do we love them so much? Here we explain why are they a great option even if you’re completely new to sailing.

Become part of a team

Lots of people joining the sailing adventures are travelling solo and come together with new friends and fellow sailors to become a team. It’s true, you can have a completely solo travel experience on a sailing boat, and we have talked about that in our blog ‘everyone wants to be this cat‘, but unless you’re an expert sailor with your own yacht it’s likely you’re looking to join a group. Sailing trips can create strong bonds between crew and you get to know and trust your fellow sailors quickly.

Challenge

Sailing is a great way to challenge yourself. While on board, it’s you against (or with, depending how you look at it) the elements. You’ll learn to use them to your advantage. You will need to develop a good physical and mental strength but there is no better feeling than getting better day after day and becoming accomplished in something you love doing.

Variety

No sailing adventure is the same. You can sail warm turquoise waters in the Caribbean, cold glacial waters in the Arctic, or spend weeks at sea crossing the Atlantic. If you’re a beginner there are trips that will allow you to get your sea legs, or if you’re more experience there are a huge variety of trips that will allow you to build on your skills and explore new destinations (ocean voyage perhaps?). You can join different types of vessels, from small yachts with just 5 or 6 crew to large tall ships where 30-40 people pull together to sail a ship learning everything they need to on the go.

Reach the wildest locations

Some of the world’s most interesting and spectacular p are often the most difficult to reach. This is usually a guarantee of few other visitors, and lots of nature and wildlife, which make these locations so special. So many stunning places are not accessible via road or even foot, hence your boat becomes the only way.

Most of our favourite sailing trips in the Arctic will bring you to those magical places. Not to mention Antarctica, a land accessible only via boat and where you will spend more time with penguins than other humans. While sailing across the Atlantic will lead you to discover some forgotten yet beautiful islands in the middle of the ocean.
